The case for slowing down internet-connected device growth
It's getting harder and harder to disconnect. Technology Review covers security expert Bruce Schneier's new book. "According to an estimate from research firm Gartner, there will be over 11 billion internet-connected devices (excluding smartphones and computers) in circulation worldwide this year, almost double the number just a couple of years ago." These devices present a cybersecurity nightmare.
Schneier is a fellow at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University and a lecturer in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School who fears lives will be lost in a cyber disaster unless governments act swiftly.
